Control the Weather: Renewable Projects Hedge Solar/Wind Risk
Evolution speaks at Solar POWERGEN on hedging weather risk in renewable projects. Secures project revenue if wind doesn't blow and sun doesn't shine.
Evolution Markets’ Director of Weather Markets, Nick Ernst, will present at the 2012 World Renewable Energy Forum/Solar POWERGEN conference in Long Beach, CA (February 14-16), discussing how to manage weather-related risk associated with wind and solar renewable energy projects.
Nick’s presentation will highlight the various risk factors facing renewable energy project developers, including volumetric risk relating to energy input from wind or solar irradiation. Renewable energy project developers can manage this risk using weather derivatives, resulting in smooth cash flows during adverse weather conditions. Ultimately, weather hedges can assist project developers obtain financing on advantageous terms.
You can get a preview of Nick’s presentation on our Website, and be sure to look out for him during the “Advances in Managing Risk” session (Wednesday, February 15, 1:30 pm PST) at Solar POWERGEN.
